Advanced Obedience Training: What Your Dog Will Learn

During my four-week board and train program, your dog will gain advanced obedience skills, including:

  • Distance Commands: Responding to “sit” or “stay” from afar.
  • Off-Leash Obedience: Following commands in various environments without a leash.
  • Impulse Control: Avoiding unwanted behaviors like jumping, begging, or chasing.
  • Recall Command: Returning to you immediately.
  • Place Command: Staying at a designated spot until released.
  • Chasing: Not chasing animals, cars or any other distraction.
  • Behavioral Adjustments: Addressing specific issues such as reactivity to reactive dogs, barking and crate training issues.
  • Car Riding: Your dog can learn good behavior for riding in the car.  This includes staying in place, barking, and other good car riding manners.  Many times this training can help with a dog’s car sickness.

  • Socialization: Learning appropriate behavior around other dogs and humans. Your dog will learn how to socialize and relate to other dogs in a pack environment.  They learn dog language. Surprisingly, many dogs don’t know dog language because of lack of socialization.  A properly socialized dog makes a confident dog.
  • Leadership: I will also teach you how to become a leader of your pet.  Without these leadership skills it will be more difficult to communicate with your dog and create an environment where they can thrive.  These leadership skills are crucial to a well balanced and harmonious life with your dog.

Your dog will also practice being non-reactive to distractions, walking calmly off-leash, and exhibiting immediate recall in any situation.

What Makes My Program Exceptional

  1. 4 Weeks of Intensive Training
Your dog will live in my private home, experiencing hands-on training in a natural environment.
  2. Real-World Field Trips
From parks and stores to Atlanta landmarks, your dog will practice their skills amidst real-world distractions. If your dog is afraid of water or can’t swim, we can introduce them to water and they can learn to swim and interact in water. Upon special request, during the Summer months, I can introduce your dog to safely riding on a paddleboard.
  3. Progress Updates
You’ll receive regular video updates so you can see your dog’s progress and how much fun they’re having.
  4. Support
My program includes a free one time 4-5 day follow-up lesson (with boarding), if your dog regresses. After this, if your dog needs support, I offer on a limited basis touch up training with paid boarding. I will also support you by making up to 2 home visits if needed to work on specific corrective behavior related to your home or neighborhood free of charge.
  5. Personalized Transition Training
When your dog returns home, I’ll provide a detailed 2-3 hour lesson to integrate their new skills into your daily life. If needed, I will travel to your home to resolve an issue that arises upon their return home.
  6. Leading Your Dog
I will also teach you how to become a leader of your pet. Without these leadership skills it will be more difficult to communicate with your dog and create an environment where they can thrive. These leadership skills are crucial to a well balanced and harmonious life with your dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

I know you most likely have questions about my board and train program. Here are answers to some of the most common ones:

Will you teach me what my dog has learned when they come home?

Absolutely! My priority is to ensure seamless communication between you and your dog. During the home transition, I’ll demonstrate everything your dog has learned, explain the training methods, and provide hands-on guidance so you can confidently continue their progress.

Do you offer a guarantee if I need help after the board and train?

Yes, I stand by my training! If new behaviors arise or you notice any regression, simply reach out. I offer support, including follow-up lessons (with paid boarding) or even meeting you at your home, all at no additional cost. Your dog’s long-term success is my commitment.

Will my dog still listen to me even though someone else trained them?

Definitely! My training is designed to transfer seamlessly to you. When your dog returns home, I’ll teach you how to effectively communicate with them, ensuring that their obedience skills translate into your everyday interactions.

What sets your board and train program apart?

My program channels your dog’s natural drive and energy into focused training, creating confident, enthusiastic, and obedient companions.

I will also teach you how to become a leader of your pet.  Without these leadership skills it will be more difficult to communicate with your dog and create an environment where they can thrive.  These leadership skills are crucial to a well balanced and harmonious life with your dog.

Backed by decades of experience—including training dogs for the Russian military and working with animals, especially with dogs—my intuitive understanding of canine behavior ensures your dog becomes a happy, well-behaved, and well-adjusted member of your family.  I train dogs to not become militant, but great, obedient canines that fit into your daily life.
